At Least Five Dead, 130 Injured

Tsunami Warnings Issued Across the Region

A major 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck in the Philippine Sea on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicenter of the quake was located 14 kilometers north and 22 kilometers west of Abra, in the eastern Philippines.

The quake caused widespread damage and injuries, with at least five people reported dead and 130 others injured. Many buildings were damaged or destroyed, and roads and bridges were impassable.

Tsunami warnings were issued for several areas across the region, including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Taiwan. The warnings were later lifted, but authorities warned that aftershocks could continue for days or even weeks.

The quake was felt throughout the Philippines and in neighboring countries. In Manila, the country's capital, people were evacuated from buildings and schools.

The Philippine government has declared a state of calamity in the affected areas. Search and rescue teams have been deployed to help find survivors and provide assistance.
